SUMMARY:Future City Program
DESCRIPTION:Engineering Mentors Needed\n\n\n\n\n\nTime: 15 – 25 hours (average of 1-2 hours/week)Where: A Middle School in Las Vegas \n\n\n\nWe have mentor opportunities available throughout the valley\, as well as virtually.    \n\n\n\nWho can be a mentor?  Engineers\, technicians\, urban planners\, project managers\, architects\, undergrad or graduate students studying in a related field. A background check is required and can be reimbursed. \n\n\n\nMentors work alongside the educator and act as a coach and role model\, share real-life STEAM experiences\, offer technical guidance\, and help translate academic concepts to the real world of engineering and city design.   \n\n\n\nThe winning team (3 students\, teacher\, and mentor) from Las Vegas can win a trip to Washington\, DC. \n\n\n\nThe theme for this year is “Farm to Table.” Design a city that eliminates food waste from farm to table and keeps your citizens healthy and safe. \n\n\n\nPDHs available for mentoring. \n\n\n\nMentor signup – https://futurecity.org/mentor-registration/ \n\n\n\nFor more information about the program\, check out: https://futurecity.org/

SUMMARY:NWRA Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:A Letter from the Annual Conference Co-Chairs \n\n\n\nThe 2026 Nevada Water Resources Association Annual Conference warmly welcomes attendees highlighting a dynamic program of workshops and sessions that reflect the ongoing growth and innovation in Nevada’s water resources sector\, with gratitude extended to all participants\, sponsors\, presenters\, and volunteers for their contributions. \n\n\n\nThis year’s conference promises to foster meaningful connections and insightful discussions among professionals\, stakeholders\, and emerging leaders engaged in managing Nevada’s most precious resource. Attendees can look forward to informative keynote speeches\, interactive panels\, and hands-on workshops designed to address both current challenges and future opportunities in water management. As Nevada continues to navigate complex water issues\, the collaborative spirit and innovative thinking showcased at this event will help shape sustainable solutions for generations to come. \n\n\n\nConnections between water resource experts are vital as the scientific\, engineering\, and professional community faces new challenges. Our three conference chairs exemplify this\, representing academia/non-profit (Laurel Saito\, PhD\, The Nature Conservancy and formerly with the University of Nevada\, Reno)\, government (Christi Cooper\, Nevada Division of Water Resources)\, and the private sector (Mark Gookin\, Terraphase Engineering Inc). NWRA events foster valuable relationships\, and we expect this year’s conference to offer similar networking opportunities for attendees. In addition to connecting with peers\, the NWRA annual conference presents an unequaled occasion to dialogue with the brightest young minds emerging from UNR\, UNLV and other water resource-related programs. \n\n\n\nBeyond the formal program\, the conference offers ample opportunity for informal networking and idea exchange in a vibrant\, collaborative atmosphere. From thought-provoking poster and oral sessions to casual gatherings\, participants are encouraged to share their unique perspectives and innovative approaches to water management. Whether you are a seasoned expert or a newcomer eager to learn\, the 2026 NWRA Annual Conference is designed to inspire everyone working toward a resilient and sustainable water future for Nevada. \n\n\n\nLooking forward to seeing you in Las Vegas\, February 2026 (for bonus game points\, say hi to each of our co-chairs)! \n\n\n\nLaurel\, Christi\, and Mark
