NCEES Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Exams are Now Computer-based
Nearly all NCEES exams required for licensure as a professional engineer or professional land surveyor are now only offered as computer-based-tests—they are no longer offered in paper-and-pencil format. The only exception is the NCEES 16-hour Structural Engineering Exam. The Structural Engineering exam will continue to be offered twice a year in pencil-and paper format thru October 2023.
Registration with NCEES for computer-based-tests opened in November. You can reserve your seat at a Pearson VUE test center once you are registered with NCEES.
Unlike many states, you do not need to be a resident of Nevada to select Nevada as the state you are registering to take the exam (you are not required to seek licensure in Nevada) and are not required to obtain pre-approval. When you register with NCEES to take the exam, select Nevada, and then select a convenient exam location, including any exam site outside of Nevada.
Most NCEES exams are offered year-round, but you can only take the exam one-time per quarter, and no more than three times in a 12-month period.
The following NCEES exams are only offered one day a year in October. Following are the 2022 exam dates for those exams:
Monday, October 17, 2022
- PE Architectural
- PE Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
- PE Metallurgical and Materials
Tuesday October 18, 2022
- PE Control Systems
