Register a Firm

All firms are required to register with the Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Administering your firm is easy through our online portal. Create a profile to get started.

Firm Registration is Required

Every business entity planning to advertise, bid on, and ultimately provide engineering or land surveying services in Nevada must register with the Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. (NAC 625.425) (NRS 625.177) (NRS 625.179)

One Exception

  • A Natural Person (example: someone doing business as John Doe, PE or John Doe, PLS) is not required to register as a firm with the board before providing services.

Application Process for Initial Firm Registration in Nevada

  1. Employ at least one (1) Nevada professional, licensed in each discipline of engineering or land surveying the firm plans to offer
  2. Obtain a Nevada State Business License
  3. Create an online profile
  4. Request Business Name Authorization (if applicable)
  5. Submit a Firm Registration Application and pay the annual fee of $50.00

1. Employ a Licensed Nevada Professional
  • Each firm must employ, full-time, at least one Nevada licensed professional for each discipline of engineering or land surveying that the firm plans to offer.
  • For example, if your firm plans to offer civil engineering and land surveying, the firm must employ—full-time—a Nevada licensed civil engineer and a Nevada licensed professional land surveyor.
2. Obtain a Nevada State Business License
  • If your firm does not already have a Nevada state business license, visit the Nevada Secretary of State portal – Silverflume – to apply for a state business license.
3. Create an Online Profile

Before starting, make sure you have the following information:

  • Nevada Business License Number and company information
  • Principal’s information
  • Professional’s information (name and license number)
  • Primary contact for the firm (all communications regarding the firm registration will be sent to this person)
4. Obtain Business Name Authorization (if applicable)
  • If the name of your firm includes the word “Engineer” or any derivation thereof, the Nevada Secretary of State will require you to provide a Business Name Authorization from the Nevada Board when you apply for your Nevada state business license. Click here for more information.
5. Submit a Firm Registration Application
  • After creating a profile, login and click “New Firm Registration” on your dashboard.
  • Follow the prompts to create a new registration.
  • The Board will review and approve your application or request additional information.
  • Following Board approval, complete the application and pay the $50 fee.
  • A Certificate of Registration will be automatically saved to your profile dashboard. You may then view and download the PDF file.
